Pride, a tender lover

By Vladimir Huber

Too many nights spent alone
Dreams of bitter endings
Passions of nonexistent smiles
Hopes of intangible futures
Just you and me
in a place with no ground

You grow and I see you going away
I grow but in a different direction
The separation is inevitable
even that we fight for not letting it be

My pride stands in the middle
like a mad invisible creature
ready to destroy any part of beauty
that life, union and joy might carry within
